"Bob Chris drives a CX-5" (rcs914)

So I had to take my CX-5 in to get the mild hood shake at highway speed issue taken care of before the warranty is up. The first time I did this they gave me a loaner Jetta with the 2.0 engine (since the dealership is both VW and Mazda), which might possibly be the worst driving experience I’ve ever had. The only redeeming feature of the vehicle is that it drove in a straight line from point A to point B. Acceleration that makes a 1985 Chevette seem quick, cornered like a pregnant hippo, and pretty much was a rolling advertisement for why I made the right decision in buying a Mazda. Someone though forgot to order the epoxy to mount the hood fix for my car though, so I had to return the Jetta a couple hours later and pick up my CX-5 -which is like driving a sports car in comparison. The Jetta really is that bad that a CUV is better in every way over it.
Today I took the CX-5 back to actually get the work done and they loaned me a base Mazda3. Compared to the Jetta, this is a masterpiece. It handles well, accelerates well, is more comfortable, etc. So, so much better in every way than driving the Jetta.
So that’s my wholly unscientific take on these two small sedans. If it ever comes up that you know someone making a choice between these two, steer them to the Mazda. Unless you hate them, or perhaps if they are a teenager whom should have the least exciting car possible.
